The Mayor of London is threatening to charge people up to £5.50 per day to drive into London. We believe this is deeply wrong; it would be a huge blow to businesses in South West London and would unfairly penalise families and tradespeople.
Many people drive into South West London from Surrey and beyond to shop, work, visit friends and care for family members. A grandparent who drove across the Greater London boundary to care for their grandkids each day could spend almost £1000 per year on this charge. For many of the local shops and restaurants we know and love, this new charge could be the straw that breaks the camel's back after an incredibly tough year.
Forcing this new tax on hard-working people and struggling businesses is just not right.
